Daney Dane

One of the most all-time-fabulous ladies I know came to visit us a few weeks ago. She and I are buddies from grad school and hasn't seen Birdie since she was three months old. Of course, both kids fell in love with her immediately and I'm sure are making their future runaway/getaway plans to live with her in Atlanta.

Ok, we had fun outside at the nature center, now off to cocktail hour!
Thanks for the visit, fabulous one. Love ya!

little surfer, little one

One more from last summer:
We ventured down the road a bit one day and found a gorgeous and secluded stretch of national seashore. If you check out the current header pic, you might notice we re-visited that same spot. :)

If you can't tell, she's singing. This girl always has a song in her heart...

and a little sashay in her step.

My two monkeys entertaining themselves for a while:

summertime is everything

So, you know I'm a fan of Galveston and we go as often as possible. However, they had the worst seaweed in 20 years last year. Don't believe me? Check these pictures. That's not black lava, people. Gah-ross!

I still needed a beach fix and one last vacation before Birdie started kindergarten, so Granny and I took the kids to Pensacola Beach and met Uncle Leo and Aunt Jen for a few days of sun and fun. David and I took the kids again last week for Spring Break, so I figured I'd better post last year's pics before I put our new ones up.

IV

Get ready to always hear me comment about how I can't believe how old this kid is. I think it's probably because he's our last baby--doesn't that mean he should always be a baby?!
He's so big and strong and mature and so lovingly amazing in countless ways. He still has a few weeks until he's technically four years old, but this is a contender for his official 4-year pic.
Thank you, sweet son, for always tolerating the beach because you love your momma so. I'm pretty crazy about you, too.

a hundy

Have you heard of this 100 days thing at schools? I think it's just a kindergarten thing, but they celebrate having gone through the first 100 days of school by dressing up to look 100. These are some cute old ladies!

patches out

Do you remember when I told you Birdie has 11 handmade blankets that were made for her after she was born? Until last week, the total for Winston was 0. My loveliest of friends came to visit us a couple of weeks ago all the way from Atlanta, and I told her this sad result of being the second child. She said, "Well, I contributed to that," because she had made one of the 11. Anyway, flash forward about a week later and guess what showed up for Winston in the mail? His very own, one-of-a-kind homemade quilt from Daney. He feels so loved.
