goin' off the rails like a crazy train

Winston was so proud of this little bat he made at the children's museum; he even managed to keep it intact for a couple of days.

Perhaps we should have named him Ozzy, after all.

the blue magoon

We have the coolest place ever just about an hour away from us. It's called The Blue Lagoon (or Magoon, as WV calls it), and it's a lake used primarily for scuba diving training. It's crystal clear with no critters! Now that it's unseasonably and ridiculously cold (Yes. 40 degrees is way too cold for me. I realize I have friends in Russia and Montana and Colorado who are rolling their eyes, but I live in Texas for a reason! I am guessing that I'll have to move to the equator once I'm an old lady to try to stay warm.), we'll have to wait until next summer to go back.

This face is, "Take the picture already. I'm freezing!"

Cutie pie Kate went with us.

little bunny momma

I was snoozing in bed this morning when a little bird came into my room to tell me she was up...and to give me a sweet start to my day.
B: Good morning, momma.
M: Hi, baby. I was just about to get up.
B: Momma, I think you are adorable.
M: Oh, thank you, sweetie. I think YOU are adorable.
B: No, I mean like you are as-cute-as-little-baby-bunnies adorable.
M: I think that's the sweetest thing anyone has ever told me.

How did I get so lucky to have such a doll? And has there ever been a sweeter wake up call than that?

This is a throwback from 2 1/2 years ago--her official 3-year picture. I had a special folder tucked away from her little photo shoot in my "to do" file on my desktop, and I've finally gotten around to doing it. This is such a great representation of her sweet, funny personality. I'm one lucky gal.

She's crafty, and she's just my type.

This little school girl loves to do school work and all things crafty. So far, school really suits her.

my eyes beheld an eerie sight

Birdie planned on being a snowflake for Halloween for many months prior. This is what she came up with as her costume. She was doing all of these crazy poses when I was taking pictures.
"This is what their reaction will be when they open the door and see a snowflake."

"This is how I'll catch the candy they throw."

"This is how surprised I'll be when I catch candy."

I could be biased, but I think she's the only person who can pull off creepy-pretty.
Now, little dude on the other hand...he changed his costume plans by the hour leading up to tricking and treating.
He settled on this GI Joe costume we found at the thrift store that morning.

Here's my trick-or-treat outfit. Silver hair pom-poms and feather eyelashes. That's about all the effort I could muster--it's my crazy time of year for work. I kept asking for coffee at all the houses, but all they had was chocolate. Boo.
In the end, we stayed out for about 45 minutes before they both said the were done. You surprised?

cowboys, take me away

We went to a "boots and bling" charity auction for our good friend's church last weekend. Perhaps the cutest little boot-scoot-boogier out there:

Hello, handsome cowboys!

only little for a little while

How can he seem so big and so little at the same time?
