"I want the world. I want the whole world."

People, I rarely throw the word "spoiled" around. However, we might be approaching Veruca Salt territory.
The last time we went to Galveston was last-minute, so our favorite hotel/condo was booked. Instead, we stayed at The Galvez. Not too shabby. Please keep in mind this is a 4-star hotel. (Sidenote: I got a crazy-insane great deal on a room; otherwise, we certainly wouldn't have stayed there.)

Anyway, the kids and I had the bellhops carry our luggage, we went through the amazingly beautiful lobby, we checked out the gorgeous pool area, and we made it to our lovely room. Not kidding, Birdie looked around the room and said, "This is it?"

Oy. This girl.

What's funny is that when we walked up, Winston said, "It's a castle."

We walked to Pleasure Pier to check it out, since we've never been on this end of the beach at night.
Wait for it....

Yep. Broken heart. We got there too late to ride.

Don't feel too bad for them. The spoiled ones and I went the next morning.

bees in the hood

We had a hive of bees in the backyard in our LA Tech bird box. The bad news is that it was on the swing set, so I couldn't let the kids play for a week. The good news is that they were contained, so we were able to have someone come pick them up and transport them to his current hives. Birdie was very excited to hear there was a queen bee in there.

throwback Thursday

Ever since I posted the "Vegas, baby!" video the other day, I've been nostalgic for my babies. Birdie asked to watch the video of when she met Winston last night, and we ended up watching a bunch of home movies. I thought this one was especially cute. They still spend most days trying to make each other laugh.

Here are some older, cute pics I like that I don't think I've ever posted.

cross posted

I put these on my photography page to advertise back-to-school mini-sessions, but I adore them so much, I just had to put them on here.

We are starting home preschool this year, and since she won't have official "school" pictures, I wanted to take some of my own. And just in case there's any lingering doubt in your mind about how cheesy I really am: the book she's reading is my favorite from my childhood and my actual book, the dictionary (the ultimate and my favorite nerd book there is) is her grandfather's, and the book of love sonnets was a gift from my co-teachers who said they were inspired by me and David.
Has the emoticon for eyerolling been invented yet?

tree story

I am about to do Birdie's 4-year pictures. So, I had to go through our old pictures to decide on which one will be her official 3-year picture. Whoops. I'm just a little behind. But, if I wait until April, I can take W's 3-year pic and put them together.
Anyway, I was going through pictures from earlier this year, and I found that there were a lot from the blue trees that I really love, so I thought I'd share.

stress free in the 2-0-1-3

I sure love these lazy, summer nights. We love to go down to The Waterway and have gelato and watch beautiful Texas sunsets every once in a while.

My babies' two-year pics are finally up together.

They say it's your birthday.

Happy birthday to our baby girl! Birdie turned 4 a couple of weeks ago. We had her party at "Pizza Planet," one of our favorite places to play. I came across this video last night as I was editing pics. In this video, she's the same age as Winston is now. It's hard to even remember her so little. I'm so proud of the little lady she's becoming, but this video sure makes me miss my baby.

Pre-party hugs with brother.

I know it looks like there are only 3 candles here, but there really are 4.

This is the reason we had our party here. You have to be 4 in order to ice skate here, so Birdie has been patiently waiting about a year to have her party here, just so she could ice skate.

After the party, we came home and put all of the presents on the playroom table. She was just a little excited.

I can't stand the rain.

Actually, I love the rain, and I love it against my window (that was the first song that came to my head for my title).
Anyway, it rained most of July here, so we had lots of puddle time.
