a baby no more
When writing this blog, it's always hard to decide how much information to share about our lives. For example, will Birdie want the Internet to know about her potty training? Don't know, but I probably won't share those kind of (often gross) details.
Well, we hit a big milestone this weekend, and I want to share--partially because this is the closest thing I have to a baby journal, and I want Birdie to know how much I love her when she's old enough to read it.
So, as of Saturday, my sweet baby is officially weaned. I had always intended to let her self-wean, but even after a year and after she was able to eat all kinds of food, she was showing no signs of slowing down. So, after I became pregnant again, I knew I needed to start the process. I know there are plenty of women out there who "tandem breastfeed," but that makes me exhausted just thinking about it. It's been a slow process, but she and I are finally done with that. She's not my baby anymore and is now a "big girl." It will be nice to have a break for 20 weeks, but it still makes me a little sad.

ultrasound pics
We had an ultrasound today, and everything looks great! The baby is measuring big with long legs, just like Birdie did. It looks like Birdie's going to have some competition for cutest kid.

almost halfway
Ok, so Bakebaby the Second is already receiving #2 treatment. If you haven't noticed, I'm a tiny bit obsessed with my Bird and haven't really devoted much time to BtS. So, I thought if I start posting before the halfway point, he or she will forgive me. So here's a quick pic and baby updates. Enjoy!
My belly has officially "popped," and it looks huge to me when I look down at it. However, when I look at this picture, it really doesn't look that big at all, and I think most strangers wouldn't even guess that I'm preggers.
Nickname for BtS: Bunny (David read the book Oil! recently and the siblings were Bertie and Bunny)
Food cravings: Cereal--the same as with Birdie. With her I ate boxes of Raisin Bran Crunch and this time it's Frosted Mini Wheats with Frosted Flakes on top (that's not a pregnancy thing; I've always mixed cereals--long story).
Weight gain: 12 pounds. Yikes! That seems like so much, but I'm so busy that I haven't even had a chance to compare that with last time.
Baby movement: I feel the baby move all the time, and David has been able to feel kicks for a couple of weeks. I know that's definitely a month ahead of last time.
Names: Not that we'd tell, of course :), but we still haven't decided. Birdie was named by week 8.
Girl or Boy: We're not going to find out again, but with my 20-week ultrasound next week, it's so tempting! Just like the first time, I keep going back and forth on what I think it is. Today? Girl.
Symptoms: Tired, just like I was with B. But, when Birdie has a decent night's sleep, it helps. I just miss the luxury of taking naps when I wanted. Otherwise, I feel great, and most of the time I don't even feel pregnant.

Boston girl
Yesterday it was 60 degrees and rainy when we went to the playground for our afternoon park time, so I made Birdie wear a scarf. She actually kept it on after the third time or so of me putting it back on her. So today, despite it being a good 70 degrees, what did she want to put on before we left?
She really does look like she's from Boston with her little scarf and tights--this was practically my uniform for grad school.
This pumpkin is on our neighbor's porch. She loves this little cat statue and goes to give it a kiss at least once a day.

trick or treat, part 2
Last night we went trick-or-treating with a bunch of friends. Birdie understood what to do immediately and had a blast going from house to house. She was dressed as Pebbles and even kept the bone in her hair all night. The little girls in the last pictures are some of her good friends.
