sweet little ragamuffin

Birdie and I had just finished eating a popsicle together.
Sorry, Stacy. This onesie might be stained!

So, I haven't posted much new info about my Bird lately. She is, like Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way. She is more of a joy every day. She is just learning how to run, and it's so cute to see her run towards the front door or the car when she sees Daddy come home. Other things she's doing lately:
-She's learned to feed herself with a spoon.
-I'm fairly certain she's right-handed.
-She has zero fear of strangers, and will (literally) sit on the laps of strangers at restaurants, if they'll let her.
-She is always on the go. She'll barely sit still for three minutes to eat.
-She's a little string bean and hasn't gained an ounce in two months. Hmmm...she started walking two months ago.
-Good news for us, she loves babies and loves to look at them. She can say "baby" very well.
-She gives sweet kisses to me all day long. She's started doing the "mmm-wah" sound when she kisses me or her baby dolls.
-She still loves to dance.
-She cries when I take a shower and always wants to come in there with me.
-We share a bowl of cereal and watch Micky Mouse Clubhouse together every morning when she gets up between 7 and 7:30.
-We spend hours outside every day. It's finally cool enough in the morning that I can keep her in her jammies for our morning walk around the lake.
-We read countless books every day.
-She is finally transitioning to one nap a day, for real this time.
-She goes down very easily at night and puts herself to sleep. But, and this is a big but, she still wakes up every two hours.
That's all my pregnancy brain will let me think of. She's a doll, and we love every second with this sweet little ragamuffin.

birthday party!

We went to Baby C's birthday party today. He's one of our favorite one-year-olds and the son of our favorite couple from Denver. I tried to get a good one of him and Birdie, but this was the best I could do. This is Birdie trying to give him a kiss. Isn't he so cute? Jill, I will email these and a few others to you later, so you can have them at a better quality. Thanks for the great party and visit!

Birdie B

Here are some pics of Birdie B playing on the couch from the other night after Daddy got home--that's when she really gets riled up. She's so much fun.

work-from-home momma

So, I've officially launched my photography business. My intent is to keep it small, so I can still be a stay-at-home momma to my Birdie, but I hope to bring in some income for us. And, I've really fallen in love with photography, and it's excited to be passionate about something new. I've started a blog: andreabaclephotography.blogspot.com. If this thing really takes off, I'll eventually have a fancy website, but the blog will do for now.

Before you start worrying (Grandma and the two other people that check this), I will still keep up our family blog. Have a great week!

right outside

On our back patio, David has a Mexican lime tree. Birdie helps him water it every night and checks out the lizards that live in it.

This is out front. David put up this beautiful flag for us a few months ago.

This is Pretty, our neighbors' cat. Birdie loves her. Pretty tolerates Birdie and is very gentle with her. She must not get too annoyed with B yanking on her tail, because she keeps coming back to our front porch. I think they are checking out bugs together.

busy weekend

It was quite a crazy weekend for us. On Saturday, we celebrated David's birthday at the LA Tech vs. Texas A&M game. Despite the heat and skipping her afternoon nap, Birdie was great! She wasn't interested in sitting in the stands, so she and I walked around and visited tons of people. She's so funny with wanting to be acknowledged. She won't give up waving, pointing to, and looking at people until they finally say hi to her. So, in typical LA Tech fashion, we kept up with the big boys for the first half of the game, and then it was downhill from there. Oh, well. This is the only picture I took. Don't you just adore those curls?

On Sunday, we went to a birthday party of one of our favorite 2-year-olds. It was a blast. Here's the cake I made for the ice-cream-cone-themed party.

Here are a few pictures of Birdie picking up some loot from the pinata.

playing

This is us playing in the house this morning after we came back from Mother Goose Story Time. This is Birdie desperately trying to get the camera.
Rolling around on the floor.
Funny face.
She won't be able to wear this dress much longer.
One of her favorite snacks is string cheese.

dancin' in the rain

This little one loves to walk (and dance) in the rain. She doesn't mind getting wet at all, and when she finds a puddle? Watch out.

I did a little photo shoot with two other friends for birthday pics for our kids.

Bakebaby #2

I had my first OB appointment last Friday and went knowing that it was probably too early to hear the baby's heartbeat--same thing that happened with Birdie. Unexpectedly, the doctor did an ultrasound to check my due date, so we not only heard a heartbeat, but we (Daddy and Birdie, too!) saw the baby! It was such a wonderful surprise. It totally made me cry to see that little 2 cm blueberry moving, kicking, and squirming. We feel so very blessed.
